What happens after I apply for a position?

Our hiring process is designed to match the right people with the right jobs. We aren’t just focused on finding candidates that fit our needs. We want to make sure we’re the right fit for your needs, too.

Once you’ve submitted an application, our Talent Team will review your application and qualifications. The best qualified candidates will be contacted for an initial phone screening with a member of our Talent Team. Following the phone screening, your resume may be reviewed by the hiring manager to select the top candidates for in-person interviews. During the interview, you’ll meet with the hiring manager, a member of our Talent Team and you may get to meet team members of the department of the position you are applying for. You may also be asked to complete other assessments throughout the process to help us determine if your overall skills meet all of the minimum requirements of the position.

We strive to provide excellent experiences and communication throughout our confidential hiring process. Unfortunately, we cannot respond to every applicant regarding the status of their application due to the high volume of applications we receive. Can I apply for a position that is not posted?

Yes! Please make sure you apply to all positions that fit your needs, background and interests. The Talent Team will assist in finding the best fit for you. Remember, you must apply online to each position individually. Are Spire employees required to join a union?

It depends. Some hourly, non-exempt positions are represented by unions and require joining the local union chapter.

Are there any tests or screenings before an offer is made?

Spire is committed to providing a safe, drug-free workplace. In addition to a background check, we require that all applicants pass a drug screening before an offer is final. We also require physicals for some applicants depending on the position to ensure they can meet the physical requirements of that position. Other assessments such as typing tests, behavioral assessments, writing assignments, etc. are given depending on the specific requirements of the role.

I was referred by an employee at Spire. What will I need to do to notify the Talent Team?

Please select “I was referred by an employee of Spire” from the dropdown menu when you apply for a position and add the employee’s name who referred you to apply. This is our only way to know that you were referred by an employee, unless that employee notifies us. Make sure you tell the Talent Team that you were referred when you talk to them. If there are any concerns with your ability to be considered for the role, the Talent Team will communicate those concerns to you.
