Jalapeño Popper Mummies

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 10 jalapeños sliced in half lengthwise, seeds removed
  • 12 ounces crescent rolls
  • 1 egg slightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • 40 small candy eyeballs or sliced black olives

Safety tip: Always wear gloves when working with fresh jalapeños

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. In a bowl, mix together cream cheese, cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper; then spoon the cheese mixture into the jalapeño halves
3. Spread the crescent roll dough out on a smooth surface. Slice crescent rolls lengthwise into small strips, then wrap each jalapeño with 2 strips, leaving room for the eyes
4. Add to baking dish and brush the dough with egg wash
5. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden
6. Once cooled, add eyes to each mummy
