Serving a St. Louis community impacted by last May's tornadoes

One year after tornadoes impacted several communities across the St. Louis area, many families are still recovering. To help with ongoing recovery efforts, more than 20 Spire employees rolled up their sleeves to clean up a north St. Louis neighborhood on May 15.
The project was part of the Urban League's "Clean Up, Build Up" event, which included a weekend of volunteer activities to support those in need.
Using tools they rely on in the field every day, the Spire team removed large tree stumps uprooted by last year's storm and cleared debris from streets and alleyways.
"I'm glad that I could be out here today to help out, and I really appreciate the Urban League and Spire," said Yahiness Knight, a Spire construction and maintenance laborer, who was happy to give back. "I'm just grateful."
A homeowner named Wilma also expressed gratitude as she watched crew members in action, saying she felt blessed for the progress made in her neighborhood.
